Sharing Large Files Securely: A Practical Guide
By Marcus Bell, Solutions Engineer · February 14, 2026 · 5 min read

Email was never designed to move large files, and most providers cap attachments at 25MB. The workarounds people reach for — public links with no expiry — often trade convenience for real security risk.
A better approach is a controlled link: password-protected, time-limited, and with a download cap. That way a link shared with one collaborator cannot quietly circulate forever.
Look for per-link encryption too, so sharing one file never exposes the rest of your vault. And always keep an access log, so you can see exactly who opened what.
With the right controls, sharing a 50GB project is as safe and simple as sending a single photo.
