How Version History Saved My Entire Project

Two things went wrong in the same week. First, a teammate overwrote a week of design work with an old file. Then a personal laptop got hit with ransomware that encrypted everything in its path.

In both cases, the fix was the same: open the timeline, find the last good version, and restore. What could have been days of lost work became a two-minute recovery.

The reason it worked is that every save creates a checkpoint, and those checkpoints are stored immutably — ransomware cannot reach back and encrypt your history.

Version history is one of those features you hope never to need. When you do need it, it is the difference between a shrug and a catastrophe.
